High School Reunion

I’ve actually had a really good week. Taylor won American Idol as I knew he would. I’ve had some stuff going on at night which really helps my mood in general. Monday we all got together out of the blue and went to Cutters. Tuesday I just chilled. Wednesday was Idol. Thursday was Aeon Flux. That movie is pretty bad. Last night we went to Cutters. Jackie and Pat are moving to Colorado on Tuesday, so it was for them.

Here’s where it gets interesting. Big Daddy’s is ALWAYS a high school reunion. You never know who you’re going to see. Anyway, I run in Michelle Heinen. I haven’t seen her since high school (5 years ago). Anyway, we start talking. I brought up that I always had a thing for her. I know she’s taken now, but it’s always fun to talk about high school. Anyway, I expected her to say something like “Really?!”. Nope. She says “I know”. I go, hypothetically, “If I would have asked, what would you have said?” She says yes. That was just odd, and it kind of made my night. I was always with Adriane, and she knew that, but just knowing that I could have had her back in the day if I had wanted to. Just pretty sweet.

Today is Aaron’s bachelor party in Mt. Carmel. No strippers, but it’s still something to do. Next weekend we Aaron’s wedding. That’s two weekends in Mt. Carmel.

Life is fairly sweet right now.

Last night two important things happened. Elliot Yamin got voted off by amazingly slim margin on American Idol and Darren asked me to be his best man at his wedding. I am totally stoked. I have until Oct 2007 to get the best bachelor party every ready. Also, I get to make out with Lisa’s sister (at least that’s what tradition says about wedding parties–she’s the maid of honor). Who knows if that will happen, but it will be sweet. And I get to give a speech at the reception. Either way I have a lot of planning and a lot time. I was hoping he would ask me, but I didn’t know for sure. Sweet!

Nothing Like Jet Skiing with Chattering Teeth

The last few days have been the 2nd annual lake house trip.

Darren, Lisa, Nick, and I got out there Thursday right after work. Drive out was pretty normal. Got there, cracked open a cold one, watched some movies, played some poker, and went to bed.

Friday morning, about 8:30, Nick gets up and tells me he’s going to brush his teeth then we’re getting some gas for the jet skis. I was a bit surprised because he normally sleeps until about 1, but I was ok with it. We got the gas.

We gas up the jet skis in the nice 60 degree weather. Sure, maybe it was a little cold, but we were on vacation, so we had to.

I we both back out the dock only to learn that Nick’s won’t start. Of course it’s a windy day, so he’s floating down the lake into someone elses dock. I high tail it over there and nudge him back to the middle of the lake with mine, and almost take off his leg in the process. I then go crazy fast back to the dock to grab a rope to tow him back to the dock. He almost fell over a couple times, and of course if you know Nick, he doesn’t handle a crisis too well. Anyway I got him back.

While all this was going on, Darren and Lisa were still asleep. They got up and we told them what was going on. I took the ski out for a little bit in the cold water just because I had just put 30 bucks gas in it.

The rest of Friday was pretty uneventful. We played some poker and watched the first half of a couple movies.

Yesterday we went out on the skis again. It was a little colder today. We left about 7 last night, of course Nick was in no hurry to leave, so we could have left about 6:30 if he would be in a little more of a hurry.

We get on the highway only to get into a traffic jam for an hour and a half. We were literally not moving for an hour. Turns out a semi had gone off the road and totally when crazy on the guard rail. After that the rest of the trip went pretty well. I got back and of course still had to get Mother’s day cards, and then go by my parents house to sneak in the flowers for my mom.

Still not much going on.

I’m playing the guitar a lot again lately. Maybe I’ll get decent and get myself in a band or something.

The important news is that Darren and Lisa got engaged. They getting married October 07. So he’s the first of the tripod to get married. That means that 3 of my 4 best friends are getting married in the next year and a half. It’s a little odd to think about it. But I guess I have no choice but to get used to it.
