Decorate
I put up the decorations and cleaned that night. I definitely have the best lit apartment in the complex. It’s not saying much because I think there are about 4 apartments with lights up, but nonetheless, it looks alright.
I finally got the schedule for the Flames. Our first game is Sunday. Should be a good season.
Relaxing
After the sweet time in the parade and winning second place (although we were hoping for first), the rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. Friday night I watched Cars with the family. Saturday I ordered the new Flame tshirts, went to the Laskowski open house for a bit, Flame practice, then Old School. Yesterday, I didn’t do too much. Played in the morning, didn’t do much the rest of the afternoon.
Tonight I think I’m going to clean and then put up Christmas decorations.
Rock On
The parade was awesome today.
I left early to get there early and make sure my stuff was setup right. I find out when I get there that the roads are blocked off already and I can’t drive to where we’re meeting. After driving around for a bit I find that if I park in an alley then I can make it.
Anyway, I park, and get my stuff over there. For about the next half an hour I stand around while everything gets setup. We warmed up, and it was awesome. Then the parade started, and it was even better. It was so much fun playing out there. We totally rocked out.
After the parade I came back and crashed. Then I went back and went to the awards ceremony/tree lighting at the square with my Mom and Alex and the band and some of their families. We got 2nd. I was really hoping for first since we won the last 2 years, but I guess 2nd isn’t too bad.
Thanksgiving
Last night Darren, Lisa, and I went to Big Daddy’s for a high school reunion. It was pretty sweet. Afterwards we went to Steak n Shake for some food.
Work was pretty good this week with work (Lisa) and everything. We’re able to get a lot more done.
Today was Thanksgiving. We went out to Trudy and Dennis’s today. Typical holiday stuff. Family, food, and pinnacle.
I’m a little nervous about tomorrow. It should definitely be fun. We’ve won the last 2 years and now I’m stepping into a pretty successful band. I know the music fine, I guess I’m just a little nervous about actually getting judged on it. I’m sure I’ll be fine once the parade starts.
How to play music by ear
So many songs use the same chord progression in different keys.
Uneventful Weekend
Well I didn’t really do anything this past weekend. Friday, I watched the Da Vinci code, and it was pretty bad. Saturday I went to Galleria for a bit. I also watched some Voyager episodes that night.
Yesterday was probably the oddest day of the weekend. I played guitar yesterday morning. After church, a lady came up and asked me to join another band at church. It’s playing guitar, so you know I said yes. So now, on Sunday afternoons that I don’t have basketball games, I play in a different band. It’s really pretty cool though. It’s on stage at the school and it’s really informal. It’s almost like being in a real band. We get to play pretty hard and move around and have a good time, which is one of the main reasons I picked up guitar, guitar players get to move around so much when they play.
We’re playing on a float in the parade on Friday, so that’s really sweet. I had to get some gear in preparation for the parade. I finally had to replace my 2 cent amp with a decent one. I got it at Guitar Center tonight, and I must say it is pretty cool. I’m really looking forward to playing in the parade.
After Friday, that band is on hiatus until the new year. Over that amount of time, I may have to get a wireless pack for my guitar so I have free reign of the stage. I think it’s only fair I have the coolest stuff there because I’m the only one in the band with a full-time income.
Tomorrow is band practice at 6 to get ready for the parade and them small groups 7-9. Wednesday is church and then Big Daddy’s. Thursday is Thanksgiving. Friday is the parade. I have crap going on all week.
Today was also a big day at work. We actually have a non-family member working part-time. She’s named Lisa, and she also works for our accountants. She shows a lot of potential. It was really weird because I feel like I didn’t get anything done today. I guess that’s because she did a lot. It was a very odd sensation.
Basketball
This has been a pretty good week.
Practice started this week. Looks like I have 10 guys this year. That’s a good solid size and I have a few guys that are pretty good. We had practice Monday and Wednesday.
Tuesday I didn’t do a whole lot. I went to the Dandy Inn with my dad for hot wings.
Tonight I went to Cutters for wings, and then Darren and Nick came over and we watched Accepted. They thought it was pretty weak, but I thought it was alright.
I don’t really have anything going on this weekend.
