What a weird week
Last week was pretty odd. I didn’t do a whole lot during the week. I had a couple nights off Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thursday we went to the St. Louis Auto Show. It was alright. It wasn’t anything all that great. Afterwards we went to Zip to hang out for a bit. Darren started talking about his new roulette strategy. He sold me on it, so Nick and I stopped at the Casino on the way back. I won a little bit.
Friday night I had TOF practice. I learned a couple of the songs, and it was really pretty fun. After that I went to the boat again to continue testing the theory and I won again.
Saturday I went again to continue testing the theory and I lost. That night was Lisa’s mom’s surprise 50th birthday party. I went over early to help setup. I ended up cooking a lot of the food for the party.
After the party the 3 of us went to the boat, and I lost again. I officially proved either the new theory does not work consistently, or I do not have the patience to make it work.
Sunday, I found out we weren’t going to have enough kids for the basketball game and had to forfeit. That was no good. We would have won the game.
Club was great that night, though. Matt wasn’t there, I got to play electric. That is so much more fun than acoustic. I got to play a couple solos, and I’m not all that bad.
After stopping by my parents’ house to see the Maisenhelders and eat some Little Caesars, I went home. I watched Leap of Faith and Short Circuit 2 Last night. Both were better than I remember.
I have practice tonight and Wednesday, but not a whole lot else going on this week.
Good Week
Monday, as stated previously, was nothing. Tuesday was small groups. We didn’t do that much, but we did play basketball, and that was pretty fun. I was sore for a couple of days so you know it was quality playing.
Wednesday was practice. We didn’t start until 9 because the 8th grade boys’ team had a makeup game and no one felt like letting me know. Anyway, it was a good practice.
Thursday wasn’t much of anything. I think I caught up on some Netflix stuff.
Friday night I didn’t do too much. There was a chance that I would go over to Matt’s for some band practice (Tongues of Fire, the new band I’m in), but it didn’t pan out.
Saturday I went to the Butterfly house with my parents and Alex. It was fun. It was some sort of family day and they had stands and stuff setup where kids could do crafts and stuff like that.
That night I watched some Star Trek Voyager and went to Borders.
Yesterday we had a basketball game against Concordia’s A team. It was a game of runs. We went on one, then they went on one, you get the idea. We ended up winning 46-44 thanks to a buzzer beater at the end of the game. It was the closest game we’ve ever had, and it was a lot of fun. We played really well, and it showed. We picked a really good day to make some 3’s, because not making them could easily have changed the course of the game.
After that I high-tailed it back to Zion for Club 66. I got there in time to play. After that TOF played some more and I learned some of the songs.
Tonight is practice, tomorrow’s open, Wednesday practice, Thursday I think we’re going to the St. Louis Auto show. The weekend’s pretty much open.
More Ice
I guess the big story of the last couple days has been this latest ice storm. They were saying that it would be as bad as that last one in December, but so far, they’ve been wrong. Of course the Maisenhelders lost power, but that’s pretty normal for them.
Last week I didn’t do a whole lot. Monday and Tuesday I took it easy. Wednesday was practice. Thursday, I was going to just hang out, but then Darren told me that him, Lisa, and some of his sister’s friends were going to Zapatas for $1 margaritas. So I went. It was a lot of fun. And extremely economical.
Friday night I went to Vespers and Big Daddy’s with Darren and Lisa and a couple of their friends.
Yesterday, I couldn’t go look at the house because of some complications getting the key or keycode or something. So I’ll probably go sometime this week. After that I picked up Alex and we went to Steak n Shake for lunch and then to the Science Center. It was part of his Christmas gift that we would go on some Saturday to wherever he wants to go. And this was his choice.
After that I dropped him off at my parent’s house, and then Steph and Joel came over for the night because they were still out of power. We played some games for awhile, and then I left and game back and just chilled out.
Today we were supposed to have a Flame game, but it was canceled due to the weather. So now, I get to play at Club 66 today. I’m looking forward to that. It was so much fun the last time and at the parade, so today should be a lot of fun, too.
This week is a lot like last week. Monday nothing, Tuesday small groups, Wednesday, practice, and the rest of the weekend who knows.
Another pretty good week
I had small groups on Tuesday, pretty typical. Wednesday was practice, and everyone was there. Thursday was Cutters, fairly normal. Melody was on vacation last week so it was back to the old style working schedule during the day. She’s back tomorrow I think, or maybe Tuesday.
This weekend was the Concordia tournament for basketball. We had a pretty tough matchup Friday night because of last season’s record. We played a Chicago team. We kept with them for about a quarter and half, but then they started to pull away. We did miss a lot of free throws that game, and if we would have made them it could have changed the course of the game. We lost.
We played again Saturday night. The games before us ran late because of OT so we started late, too. We played one of Christ Memorial’s team, and beat them by about 20.
We played again today at 12:30. We played CMR Black, which we beat earlier in the season. We beat them again today by 17 I think. We ended up Consolation Champions (7th place out of 14). Not bad. Overall we played pretty well.
This week should be easier than last week. A couple easy nights, which I think I’ll do some more house shopping and get my Grad School stuff lined up. I think I’ll be starting this summer instead of fall.
Practice Wednesday, not much after that until the game on Sunday.
2007 Baby
I had probably the best New Year’s Celebration ever last night. I went over to Lisa’s for some food about 6. Then we came back to my place around 8 and chilled for a little bit and had a couple drinks. After that we headed out to Emily’s. She’s a friend of Lisa’s that lives out off Big Bend. After getting there we hung out, played a couple games. Did the whole ball dropping thing, and headed out around 1am. It was fun. From there I convinced Darren and Lisa to go to the Casino Queen. After stop at the ATM in downtown STL, we were at the Queen. As normal, I fully expected to lose whatever money I show up with. I don’t ever win and don’t want to. Anyway, about an hour passes and I’m just about out of chips at the Roulette wheel. Darren and Lisa are already out, so they’re just waiting for me to run out so we go. It is at this time that I asked Darren what number he envisioned in his head. He says 27. I think alright, last spin, I’ll go for 27. Well, as you’ve guessed by now, 27 hit. It was so crazy. That spin but me a little above even, so I cashed out. And, I had told Darren that if 27 hit then I’d buy us all chili at Steak ‘n Shake. So it did, and I did. After that they dropped me off and I crashed. It was a great night, and I still can’t believe that Darren called it and I left with money.
This week is fairly busy for me. Tomorrow night is small groups, Wednesday is practice, Thursday I think is hanging out with the crew, and then this weekend is the Concordia tournament and then a game on Monday, so my weekend’s pretty much spent.
And a random comment, I might buy a house come this summer and go to grad school this fall.
